What the model leaves out
Models every event as identified (an upper bound). Event rates: free to 1M, $0.00005 to 2M, $0.0000343 to 15M, $0.0000295 to 50M, $0.0000218 to 100M, $0.000015 to 250M, $0.000009 beyond. Identified-events add-on: free to 1M, $0.000198 to 2M, $0.0000697 to 15M, $0.000036 to 50M, $0.0000146 to 100M, $0.0000037 to 250M, $0.000001 beyond. No base fee and no per-seat charge.
- Identified events — with person profiles, needed to follow one user across visits and build cohorts — are billed twice: the product analytics event rate plus the identified-events add-on rate.
- Anonymous events cost only the base rate: $0.00005 each from 1M to 2M, falling to $0.000009 above 250M.
- The Free plan (no card) stops at the free allowance and has 1 project; pay-as-you-go keeps the same free tier, with a billing limit per product.
- Group analytics and data pipelines are separate per-event add-ons.

What the model leaves out
Billed per ingested $exception event, with graduated rates from posthog.com/docs/error-tracking/pricing — free to 100k, $0.00037 to 325k, $0.00014 to 10M, $0.000115 beyond. The Free plan needs no card but is limited to the free allowance; pay-as-you-go has no base fee.
- PostHog bills every ingested $exception event, not issues; exceptions dropped before ingestion (suppression rules, before_send) aren't billed.
- Exceptions ingested before you suppress an issue still count.
- You can set a billing limit; past it PostHog stops capturing exceptions until the billing period resets.
- The Free plan (no card) has monthly usage limits and 1 project; going past the free tier needs pay-as-you-go.

What the model leaves out
Anonymous-event rates from posthog.com/pricing (free to 1M, $0.00005 to 2M, $0.0000343 to 15M, $0.0000295 to 50M, $0.0000218 to 100M, $0.000015 to 250M, $0.000009 beyond), modelled as one event per pageview — a lower bound. No base fee and no per-seat charge.
- Each pageview is at least one event; pageleave events and autocapture clicks add more, so the event count is usually higher than pageviews.
- The free allowance is shared with any in-app product analytics events in the same organization.
- The Free plan (no card) stops at the free allowance and has 1 project; pay-as-you-go keeps the same free tier and adds billing limits per product.
- Anonymous events use these rates; identified events (with person profiles) cost extra.
